This is where I grew up - my playground.  Quebec is the only French province in Canada - as it used to be a French colony.  And I lived at the heart of it, Montreal.

I took these pictures last Summer - it's actually the Old Montreal or Old Port as we call it.  The scenary is just breathtaking.  Everytime I go back, I am still mesmerized by its beauty.  There is so much to take in, everywhere you look.  Stunning architecture with intricate details, romantic pebble streets, little quaint cafes with tables outside, cozy bakery stores on the corner, delicious European cuisine... everything just appears so vibrant and alive.  People are full of life, passion - they smile at you or even say hello as you pass them by on the street.  No one seems like a cold stranger.

The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable... there are parks everywhere with trees and flowers, filled with lovers, writers, live musicians...  Birds and squirrels are always busy nearby some wooden benches.  People sitting on them feed the curious pigeons, or simply enjoy the day outside with a good book.  It's all about enjoying the moment.  Everything slows down.  Life is too short to miss out on.  That's what we call "joie-de-vivre" - the joy of living.

I must say, I do miss it.  Its vibe, its rhythm.  It's a big part of me and of who I am.  And I return to Montreal once in awhile, to take a lonnng deep breath.  Don't get me wrong, I looove Taiwan, it's my home.  But sometimes it feels so nice to take a break from the hectic, fast-paced lifestyle (say, about 12 hours of work/day)... and just find myself again.

If you ever go there one day, you will fall in love with it, I promise.
